Pace Sports Wear started in 1964, when Jorge Saavedra went to the United States from his native Colombia. As an avid cyclist he recognized the need for high quality cycling caps back then. More importantly he wanted to make a cap that could be customized. That was how he started making caps for shops, teams and races in small numbers and delivered most of them personally. However, things really took off when Jorge began making caps for Campagnolo, an account they still have to this day.
At present, Pace Sports Wear makes a wide range of products ranging from caps, headbands, helmet liners, skull caps, gloves, socks, women’s and youth’s clothing, as well as sublimated and solid jerseys, among others. Pace Sports Wear also offers customized printing on most of their products. A wide range of sizes is available, ranging from XS to XXXL.
Togoparts.com extends its gratitude towards Ban Hin Chan for loaning us the Men’s Solid VaporTech? (a 100% treated polyester fabric with extreme sweat wicking properties) Raceline Jersey for this review. Made of 100% VaporTech? material with sweat wicking properties, it comes with an invisible ? length zipper, elasticized waist and 3 rear bar-tacked pockets. This jersey looks plain and simple and will definitely appeal to riders who prefer to stay clear of sponsor-festooned, billboard-like jerseys. The sweat wicking properties of this jersey help to keep you cool and dry in our hot and humid weather. However, when compared to some other jerseys, I found the Pace a little too thick. I guess this is a question of personal preference since I have always preferred sleeveless jersey with thinner materials, as I ride under the dreadful sun most of the time. For the night owls, the thickness of the jersey can be advantageous as it helps to shield you from the chilly winds as you zoom down the slopes at 50km/hr. The 3 rear pockets are actually under-utilized by me as I usually carry my Camelbak when I ride.
For washing, it is pretty much the same as the Pace Polo Jersey in the earlier review. Just throw it into the machine for a cold wash with mild soap before leaving it out to dry on a line. No signs of colour fading or damage could be spotted after a couple of washes.
The VaporTech? Jersey is well priced, given its high quality. A good buy if you want a change from loud prints or if you like a plain and simple jersey without being a billboard for brand name sponsorships. It will also be highly suitable for a jersey on which to do a customized print job for your cycling club.
