- The Polygon Strattos S5

The Polygon Strattos S5 sports Polygon’s lightweight ALX Advance Endurance Alloy Frame that weighs only 9.3kg.
Frame
Sporting a redesigned frame made of Polygon’s ALX Advance Endurance Alloy Frame, the Strattos S5 is designed for sports cycling, exercising and everyday use. Weighing a mere 9.3kg on a 53cm frame, the new aluminum frame is lightweight and stiff. This gives you a good power transfer from your feet to the spanking new Shimano 105, 22 speed groupset.
Componentry

It comes incorporated with a Shimano 105 groupset
The Strattos S5 hails with its ACX Endurance Road Carbon Taper Steerer, Light and stiff, it has the ability to absorb road vibration and bumps. Its cable is wired internally – the result is a clean and uncluttered look on the bike aesthetically.
Powered by the Shimano 105, 5800 22 speed groupset, the bike offers you a groupset ranked directly below Ultegra. This means a full compact drivetrain on a crankset well-tuned to the length of its frame. Its 50/34 tooth crank and 11/28 cassette ensure you climb uphill and have enough gears for the downhill sprint.
Like the Shimano Dura Ace and Ultegra, the Shimano 105 crankset now features fixed Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD). This allows you to swap the chainrings to 50-34T, 52-36T or 53-39T all using the same crank arm spider.
The Strattos S5’s sleek shifters are slim and light, and respond well with each easy inward click allowing you to change your speeds at will. Also, the dual-pivot brakes give you an overall increase of 30% in braking power and modulation as compared with the previous versions.
Entity XL2 Clincher Wheelset
The wheelset fitted on the Strattos S5 is the Entity XL2 clincher, which is synonymous with low maintenance. It features sealed bearings to ensure no dirt or water gets in during muddy rides. The XL2 is one of the lightest wheelsets in its category.
Complementing the XL2 wheelset are the Schwalbe Lugano 25c tyres which ensure strong and abundant grip on both wet roads and dry terrain. The Schwalbe’s Active Guard gives you additional puncture protection, enabling you to take tough topographies with ease.
The Strattos S5 comes with Entity’s triple-butted alloy bars, alloy stem and an alloy seatpost. Its slim and long saddle gives you plenty of leverage to adjust your body weight as you tackle the long uphill or tuck your body in for the sprint downhill.
Ride Quality, Ride Feel

The Strattos S5 raring to go again – after the test ride
For an economy of $1399, the Strattos S5 does promise an array of features to maximize your dollar beyond any other road bike of this range. Beside its 105 groupset being one of the top 3 in Shimano’s arsenal, it was a stiff and lightweight horse on the go (with me on its back) and took the corners with deft, sharp turns. Wind resistance and vibrations were minimal for this beast. Quite a godsend for the $1500 range.
