Xiaomi has released a very affordable action cam at just 399 CNY ($64) in China.

Branded as the Yi Camera, it boost an impressive specs with 1080P, 60fps video and up to 64GB of memory at almost half the price as compare to the other action cams in the market  (the $130 Hero has 1080/30p video and 32GB max storage). Besides weighting at just less then 72g, it also has a bigger battery and can be submerge way down to 40m underwater.

However, the only shortfall is that it does not come with a protective housing mount. To compensate the lack of protective casing, Xiaomi is offering a bunch of extra accessories, including a helmet mount and a cat harness.

Other specs include built-in WiFi for remote smartphone triggering, 16-megapixel stills, a backside-illuminated Sony sensor, a 155-degree wide-angle lens, 3D noise reduction and digital image stabilization.

Currently, the Yi camera is only for sale within China, but Xiaomi will soon launch its Mi.com e-commerce site in the US later in the year. It will also sell other accessories such as the Mi Band and power banks.

We look forward in seeing the Yi Camera coming over to our sunny shores soon!
