TTSH Charity Ride 2016
Togoparts Editorial Team – 5th Apr 2016

As the weekend of TTSH Charity Ride 2016 drew near, our Charity Riders watched the weather reports of Taiwan anxiously as temperatures plunged and rain was expected. Although we braced ourselves for the cold before we set off, nothing could have prepared us for the strong winds, made worse by the rain that greeted us the moment we touched down at Taoyuan International Airport.
Most of our Charity Riders were poised to challenge themselves to a tough 400km ride over 3 days. Even the novice cyclists were set to conquer their personal cycling milestones through this ride. With the rain and winds so strong that walking straight became a challenge, cycling on day 1 (56km) was out of the question. We had to cancel for the safety of our cyclists.
The weather did not dampen our spirits though. Our Charity Riders bundled up nice and warm the next morning to kick off TTSH Charity Ride 2016. In high spirits, we flagged off in the light rain on Day 2 at the iconic Hsin Chu Dong Men Gate.

The 171km route on day 2 took the cyclists through tranquil coastal paths and parts of the city as we headed towards Tai Chung. It’s not all work and no play either – we made sure to stop at Wanggong Fishing Port王功漁港to feast on fresh oysters and seafood before heading back to Tai Chung.
Much to the joy of our Charity Riders, we were met with warm sunshine for the very first time on Day 3! The day’s very challenging 172km route was mainly undulating, with spectacular climbs as we headed up north to the magnificent ShihMen Dam 桃園石門水庫. On this last day, our cyclists pushed themselves to cover as much distance (and altitude) as they could, all in the name of charity. We wrapped up TTSH Charity Ride 2016 with a much welcomed warm dinner.

Through the collective efforts of our Charity Riders, sponsors, partners and supporters, we have raised over $368,000 this TTSH Charity Ride 2016! The funds raised will go a long way in helping our needy sick with their medical needs, especially in areas which are not subsidized and are out of pocket expenses. A sincere thank you to all our supporters and we hope that TTSH Charity Ride 2016 was a rewarding experience for our cyclists and all who believe in our cause.

Even though TTSH Charity Ride 2016 is now completed, fundraising efforts continue for our our less fortunate patients at httpss://give.asia/charity/tan_tock_seng_hospital_community_charity_fund
