Mondraker – MTB Brand

2016 Cyclist’s Choice Awards – Special Mention

Spanish brand Mondraker’s focus on the performance and innovations of their mountain bikes enables them to manufacture a complete range of off road bikes that can suit every type of terrain and condition possible, from full suspension bike to hard tails and most recently to e-bikes as well, awarding them with a very special mention for the off road bikes category.

Mondraker Trademark.

Fresh from their last 2016 World Cup win in Andorra by Danny Hart, whom then proceeded next to also claim another win at the 2016 Worlds in Val di Sole made him the winningest rider of the season, with 3 World Cup wins in a row, the MS-Mondraker Team also manged to clinch the very prestigious 2016 Overall Team Award because of Laurie Greenland and Markus Pekollin the top 10 in Andorra as well, writing this award as the greatest achievement in Mondraker’s history books ever. But something else historical happened at the Worlds as well, Mondraker cleanly swept all top positions with the win by Danny Hart, Laurie Greenland coming in at second and followed by Florent Payet in third, this unprecedented achievement was something Mondraker could never have dreamed of and it had exceeded all of their highest and most incredible expectations.

We are still lost for words and blown away for everything that happened at 2016 Worlds in Val di Sole. The winningest rider of the season with 3 World Cup wins in a row- and also our MS-Mondraker Team clinched the prestigious 2016 Overall Team Award.

All these historical wins and achievements can be boiled down to Mondraker’s ‘outside the box’ thinking, to passionately design and manufacture a complete collection of cutting edge technology bikes that deliver the best performance and most unique riding experience ever. Proprietary technologies like their Zero Suspension System that makes the rear suspension extremely sensitive on even the smallest bumps but yet is capable of also handling big hits, with the added advantages of having Zero power loss, Zero pedal kickback and Zero brake jack just to name a few. Another infamous feature of Mondraker’s bikes is their award winning Forward Geometry which increases safety and confidence when riding up steep inclines, even at high speeds.

Dune Carbon XR-32T CNC, X-SYNC machined aluminium narrow wide 1×11 technology.

The Mondraker Dune XR Carbon is designed for Enduro racing and riding, with a Stealth full carbon frame and carbon upper links, this 27.5″ bike’s frame has unique and specifically placed layers of carbon fibre in combination with the use of specific directions of the different quality fibres to achieve a frame that has the best strength / structural rigidity / trail buzz absorption / lightness ratio. Fitted with a Fox 36 Float fork with a FIT4 3 positions lever and 170mm of travel at the front and a Fox DHX2 2Pos lever factory kashima shock for the rear giving 160mm of rear wheel travel, special steering cups provided with this bike also allows you to adjust the 66 deg head tube angle to +/- another 1 degree. Kitted out with SRAM’s X01 1×11 components, there is only a long cage rear derailleur to handle the gear shifting throughout the 11 speeds, and without the extra weight and complexity of having a front derailleur, gear shifts are exceptionally fast and simple. The Race Face SIXC carbon crank is fitted with a 32T S-SYNC narrow wide cassette and matched to a 10-42T rear cassette. Wheels are from DT swiss with Spline One 240s hubs for both the front and rear wheels.

Foxy Carbon XR-Sram X01 Type 3 with Roller Bearing Clutch and Cage Lock, 1 x 12s carbon, long cage, X-Horizon system.

Another of Mondraker’s bikes worth mentioning is the Foxy Carbon XR, this all mountain bike has a slacker 66.5 degree head tube angle that is further adjustable +/- 1 degree by swapping with the optional geometry kit’s headset cups. The frame is a Foxy Stealth full carbon frame featuring the Zero Suspension system and Forward Geometry as well, but the upper link is made from aluminum and is machined entirely as a one piece monoblock. The Fox 34 Talas Kashima fork gives you 160-140mm of fork travel while you get 140mm of travel at the rear, with shocks taken care of by a Fox Float LV EVOL Factory Kashima rear shock. You have the choice of having 12 different gearing ratios for this bike with the SRAM Eagle componentry, and by having the SRAM X01 Type 3 1×12 rear derailleur shifting through a very wide 10-50T rear cassette and mated to a SRAM X01 Eagle carbon crank with a single 32T direct mount X-SYNC chainring up front, you now have an additional gear to allow you to climb up steep inclines much easier.
