Mobike has also equipped its bikes with airless tyres that last longer and are more durable than regular ones.

Bicycles from bicycle-sharing company Mobike have underwent an upgrade, as part of the company’s strategy to ensure that its bicycles are tailored for Singapore road conditions.

The new bicycles that have been rolled out on Thursday (6 July) are now installed with gears shifts (three gears) that allow for easier pedalling when riding upslope. The battery-operated headlights have also been replaced with solar-powered ones in the new bikes. Additionally, they have adjustable seats that can accomodate users of different heights. By and large, the new fleet provides an easier and more comfortable riding experience than the older bikes.

Mobike also announced an exclusive partnership with Mastercard, in celebration of 100 days of its bicycle-sharing service in Singapore.

The Mobike-Mastercard partnership, which enables users of Mastercard to pay for rented rides by using the Mobike app, serves to enhance the payment experience for riders. The new payment service in the Mobike app encompasses Masterpass, Mastercard’s global digital payment solution, so that users can make fast and secure in-app payments.

As part of the celebation, Mobike is giving away free rides until 31 July. Mr Florian Bohnert, who heads Mobike’s International Expansion Team, said: “Our value lies in bringing our smart, sustainable and environmentally-friendly mobility solution to urban residents.”

By and large, the new fleet provides an easier and more comfortable riding experience than the older bikes.
