The end of 2017 is near. Christmas holds somewhat different meanings for everyone, but largely, two aspects stays the same: reflection and celebration. On the former, I can’t help you much with that. But on the latter… whether it be a Christmas party replete with gifts-giving, or a simple gathering somewhere with loved ones and friends under a makeshift Christmas tree, the revelry of this ancient festival goes on as usual. For the younger ones and the young-at-hearts, this also means going around snapping Insta-worthy photos!

Here, Togoparts would like to introduce 5 places you can soak in the Christmassy mood at. Prior to the D-Day itself, you can arm yourself with a camera and snap some lovely photos with Christmas light-ups.

1) Walk of Wonder @ Forum the Shopping Mall

Annually, Singapore’s busiest shopping district Orchard Road holds its Christmas-themed light-ups. “Endless Wonder” is the theme this year, with a stunning 76,000 man hours taken to product all the Christmas decorations! This year’s decorations span 2.88km, and runs from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura. Admittedly, you have to walk, and savor all the fairy delights there. Do not be given in to temptation though – great sales and deals are everywhere, and if you load your arms with grocery bags, it’ll be harder to savor the treat of lights.

Walk of Wonder, a 20-meter long passage made up of reflective fabric and fairy lights,  is the first lap on your walkathon – or if you’re on a bike, you can cycle around to complete the Endless Wonder walk.

Note: 2017’s Decorations  come to life as early as 3pm each day, till its last day on 1st Jan 2018!

2) Ngee Ann City – Endless Wonder Christmas Village

Check out this video for the great moments of the Christmas Village.

Check out this blog by thesmartlocal.com for things you can do at the Village.

Very briefly: there’s the Enchanted Tree outside Wisma Atria where visitors can snap a photo.

The Enchanted Tree outside Wisma Atria sparkles at night, begs for photos.

At the Christmas Village, you’d be tempted to spend, and all for a good cause. There’s food at the various makeshift, white cottage-themed stalls, drinks for the thirsty and carnival rides for kids! Also, the Hitachi Santa House invites you to have a picture in Santa’s cozy quarters. Go down for a looksee! Hint: check out this blog to see what you can do there!

3) Christmas Wonderland @ Gardens By the Bay

As if the manmade facades aren’t awe-inspiring enough already, Gardens by the Bay brings to you its very own Christmas Wonderland that’ll add double the glitz to its already-glitter.

Poinsettia Wishes @ Christmas Wonderland

This year, Gardens by the Bay introduces Poinsettia Wishes, a Nordic-themed-and-feels Christmas Wonderland that brings you a complete Christmas village replete with poinsettias, amaryllis and Christmas trees. You’ll excuse the Flower Domes being transformed into said wonderland for the occasion. An oversized lavvu – which is a tent-like structure used by the Sami people from Sapmi – occupies centrestage, and draws in the crowd. Also, not to be missed: Santa’s cozy cabin where you can, again, take photos and luxuriate before an imaginary fire to stave off the winter cold.
Check out the details here.
4) Transformers Stellar Lights Display @ City Square Mall
There’s no better reason to take your kids Transformers-picture-shopping than at City Square Mall this festive season. Behold that: the front of the mall has been transformed into the Transformers’ Stellar Light Show display! Walk through it and experience a glitter-rain of stars. Pose against the awe-striking statues of Transformers for Insta-worthy shots, have a blast with your kids at Snowy Playtime and check out the Cyber Galactic Carnival!
After all, wherever Transformers strike, there’s bound to be a good deal of other-galactic manifestos on display!

5) Christmas Made Perfect @ Waterway Point

Waterway Point sits in quiet contemplation beside the Punggol Waterway

It’s still a mall, still a mall-ish atmosphere. Man-made decorations. Well, Waterway Point is part of the North Eastern Riverine Loop, and a perfect getaway by bicycle from Pasir Ris to Punggol. Its a low and long edifice that stands in quiet contemplation by the Punggol Waterway, absorbing all of Nature’s water-based power even as it swallows the man-made commotions inside it. Come to think of it, the Christmas Made Perfect Waterway Point deals take place from 17-25 Dec. Check out this link for the promotions there.

Otherwise, it’s a good place to spend a perfect Christmas evening out at with your loved ones in the proximity of good food and lush, quiet contemplation of water.
