Holding an award-giving ceremony at the end of every calendar year seems like the customary thing to do across practically every industry. Don’t get us wrong. We folks at Togoparts are staunch believers that every well-thought product or service should consistently be rewarded with some form of recognition at the industrial or national level. From manufacturing to retailing to post-sale service, it is undeniably the consumer satisfaction and loyalty that established the popularity of a product or service. Consumer satisfaction and loyalty are, un-coincidentally, also the primary factors that kept the businesses on their toes, driving them to maintain their competitiveness by constantly reviewing their product offerings and service levels.
For the same reasons, we’ve created the Cyclist’s Choice Awards to recognise and pay tribute to the top guns in the two-wheeled industry not only for the products and service that they offered, but also for their relentless contributions and efforts made towards the local cycling community.
Already in its second successive installation, the Cyclist’s Choice Award 2016 was a powerful game-changer for those who are keen to make their marks in the pedal-powered business. Despite being a relatively new initiative, the annually-held contest managed to ink several Bests and numerous Favourites, drawing a mixture of jubilee, disappointment and even bewilderment in the process. Whatever the case may be, the Cyclist’s Choice is probably the only principal platform not only for us riders to acknowledge and appreciate the who’s who in the trade, but also for the participating merchants to find out where they stand and the areas that they need to improve on.
Held at a dinner at ORTO on 11 December 2016, we invited industry members to gather, dine and share their success strategies with us. We were honoured to have Senior Minister of State at the Ministries of Culture, Community and Youth and Trade and Industry Ms Sim Ann to grace the event and hand out coverted Brand awards such as the winning brand for Best Road Bike Brand - Merida, Best Folding/Commuting Brand - Tern, Best Helmet - Met, Best Lights/blinkers - Cateye, Best Bike Lubricants / Washing Agents - Muc-Off.
Lets do Data Analytics
The numbers that made up the Cyclist’s Choice Award 2016 were immensely encouraging and interesting. 49 categories from four broad groupings - Foldable/Commuting Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes and Hipster Bikes. This translates to some 49 winners in the local cycling arena!
Here is the breakdown of the votes:
Folding / Commuting - 12%
MTB - 46%
Road Bike - 40%
Hipster Specific - 2%
As with the voters from last year, we see an increase in the voters in the MTB discipline, and we have included a new Hipster category for all you fixie lovers!
Here are the award winners of each category – congratulations to all those mentioned here!
