If you think your round island ride is exhausting, wait till you hear what this lady has been doing for the past 5 years and counting.
“Bicycle touring is perfect to see the world.“
Meet Jin, a South Korean woman. She dreams of space travel, but decides instead to cycle the world as a more attainable, earthly precursor. With what limited money she had saved up after working in Canada for a year, she began her life-changing journey back in September 2011, kicking off from San Francisco. Since that fateful day, she has since travelled well over 60,000km across 5 years without ever going home.
To date, she has travelled across more than 65 countries in North America, Latin America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, where she is currently situated. Just recently, Jin documented her experience in Thailand. Her journey hasn’t been all smooth-sailing either; Jin has had five car accidents, along with many small ones, and she was also sexually harassed in some countries.
In her own website, Jin explains why she prefers to travel with a bike. “A car is too fast and walking is too slow. Bicycle touring is perfect to see the world. I want to begin my exploration of the universe by pedalling a bicycle,” she writes.
Jin is also inquisitive and enjoys meeting, talking, and listening to people, learning from them and seeing how different cultures etch themselves into the throes of history.
Her journey is far from over, and I don’t know about you, but I’m incredibly excited to read more about her latest adventures.
