Introduction

The 21st EuroBike features 1,250 exhibitors from 49 countries and one can think of it as a kind of “United Nations” event to do with all things related to cycling. This is the trade fair in which we get a glimpse of the latest innovations and trends for the 2013 season. Exhibitors from different parts of the world showcase their best for the bicycle industry in 12 huge halls and trust me, one day is not going to be sufficient for one to even have a glimpse of the wide arrays of products and staggering displays. There is something for anyone who has a love for bicycles: from the typical road bikes and MTBs to recumbent bikes to electric-assisted bicycles for urban riding.

Impressions & Highlights

Of course, being a self-professed road bike crazy guy, I went around hunting for the major road bike brands: not only were the preview of the 2013 products exciting, the booth displays were corresponding artful and impressive! Here are some of the highlights:

Specialized had one of the most impressive displays around

Polygon’s road bikes go aero for 2013

The award-winning Canyon “stealth fighter”

The writer giving a go with a test-bike mounted with the latest Dura-Ace 9070 Di2 groupset at the Shimano booth

Summary

Day 1 at EuroBike 2012 was simply overwhelming, given the sheer amount of booths and dazzling bikes/components/parts/accessories. Much like Demo Day, it is a dream come true for any bike geek and a visual feast for all things bike. Stay tuned for a feature on pro bikes on display at EuroBike!
