2014 Boardman Elite Series

After the unveiling of the impressive looking Air/TTe, Boardman saved the best news for last and announced its 2014 Elite Series. The Elite Series is Boardman’s top-tier performance oriented bike designs that adopt its very best and latest in-house developed technologies. The new bikes from the Elite series have been meticulously designed using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) with the aim to further improve on handling, aerodynamics and power transfer.

The 2014 Elite Series feature 6 completely redesigned frame platforms. You can check out and/or enquire about these beauties at Integrated Riding.

Aerodynamic Road Racing: AiR Frame
The AiR is really Boardman’s line-topping model. As per last years series, the model available in 3 flavours; the AiR/9.0, AiR/9.2, AiR/9.4 and the top model; AiR/9.8. Much work has been poured into the design of this frame, using technologies previously used in F1 racing to further improve the aerodynamics. For instance, the design factors in enhanced airflow interaction between the frame and the wheel (that can be further improved, according to their designers, with the use of deep section wheels).

Features
– Aerodynamic design using fill high modulus carbon fiber monocoque construction
– Flat inside and curved insider fork and seat stays for improved aerodynamic interaction with wheels.
– Full internal cable routing with cables entering the frame behind the headtube for improved aerodynamics (supports mechanical and electrical groupsets)
– Rear brake underneath chainstays
– 4 position seat-post to allow for Road/TT or Triathlon optimization-
– Optional internal front brake (integrated into fork)

Superlight Racing Frame: SLR Frame
The SLR is everything the AiR minus, less its Aerodynamic focus. The frame is stunningly light at 798g and even at this weight, its strength and optimized using innovative in-house design methods. Frames available; SLR/9.0, SLR/9.2, SLR/9.4 and SLR/9.8.

Features
– Super light high modulus carbon fiber monocoque design
– Flat inside and curved insider fork and seat stays for improved aerodynamic interaction with wheels.
– Full internal cable that supports mechanical and electrical groupsets
– Rear brake underneath chainstays

Superlight Endurance Race: SLS Frame
The SLS frame is built for the long haul. For those keen to save their bums on a comfortable design but not willing to sacrifice too much speed, the SLS is the frame for you. Also available in 4 flavours; SLS/9.0, SLS/9.2, SLS/9.4 and SLS/9.8.

Features
– Super light high modulus carbon fiber monocoque design (~850g)
– Specially profiled seat stays for reduced weight and shock-absorption
– Full internal cable that supports mechanical and electrical groupsets
– SLS endurance geometry focusing on stability, handling and comfort

Road Time Trial Evolution: AiR/TTE Frame
Designed with the latest and greatest from Boardman, utilizing F1 aerodynamic design techniques, the TTe (Time Trial Evalution) is stunning to look at. The bike screams speed no matter which angle you approach it from visually.

Features
– Completely aerodynamic frameset that includes specially designed frame, fork, cockpit system, brakes and seat post
– Full high modulus carbon fiber monocoque construction
– Flat inside and curved insider fork and seat stays for improved aerodynamic interaction with wheels.
– Full internal cable routing with cables entering the frame behind the headtube for improved aerodynamics (supports mechanical and electrical groupsets)
– Rear brake underneath chainstays for improved aerodynamics
– 4 position seat-post to allow for Road/TT or Triathlon optimization
– Integrated internal front brake

Road Time Trial : AiR/TT Frame
This high-end Elite TT bike comes in 4 flavours; 9.0, 9.2, 9.4 and 9.8. If the TTe is too much of a cup of tea for you, then the Elite TT will not disappoint.

Features
– Full high modulus carbon fiber monocoque construction
– Flat inside and curved insider fork and seat stays for improved aerodynamic interaction with wheels.
– Full internal cable routing with cables entering the frame behind the headtube for improved aerodynamics (supports mechanical and electrical groupsets)
– Rear brake underneath chainstays for improved aerodynamics
– 4 position seat-post to allow for Road/TT or Triathlon optimization
– Integrated internal front brake

Cyclocross: CXR Frame
The CXR series represent one of the most comprehensive line-up within a segment for Boardman. Featuring 4 different framesets; the CXR 9.0, CXR 9.2, CXR 9.4 and CXR 9.8, the disc-brakes/cyclocross segment is well covered in the Elite series. No big surprise here with all the big boys introducing road groupsets with disc brake support and the increase in cyclocross racing across the globe.

Features
– Full super light carbon monocoque frame design
– Designed specifically to handle forces and challenges during offroad riding
– Internal cable routing allow cables to be safely tucked away from the elements (supports mechanical and electrical systems)
– Wishbone seat stays for improved comfort
– Allow for mounting of mudguard and rear-rack
