L&T West

Today marked an important day for L&T Cycle. After operating in Tampines for the last decade, they have finally stepped out of the East with their latest branch at One Commonwealth.

Their strong outreach was immediately felt the moment we entered into the parking lot. The lot was almost filled with their regular customers’ cars. You can also see many of them gathering round make-shift seating area, catching up with old khakis, simply enjoying the day. The atmosphere was a casual one. Rather than calling it a Grand Opening, I would think “shop warming” would better describe what I saw. Everyone seemed to know each other and it just seem like a gathering for all cycling enthusiasts.

Before I even have time to warm the bench, Francis warmly tossed me a Budweiser, and promise more to come! A quick look around and I see some of the customers were already high on alcohol. A party is definitely in the making! Guess at the end of the day, everyone who was there must have enjoyed themselves chatting with old friends over ice cold beer. Food was another popular commodity that day, with little left two hours into the opening. Guessed many of them dropped by the event after their Sunday ride.

L&T started with half a shop front in Tampines and progressively expanded to operate the whole shop. Through the years, they have built up their reputation as one of the higher end bike shop in Singapore and boasts a relatively large group of supporters. Currently, they carry major brands such as Santa Cruz, Knolly, KTM, BH, Fox clothing, A2Z compnents, Yeti, Lynskey, Commencal, Intense, Fox fork and shock, Spinergy, Fulcrum, Element, MET, GIRO, and the list goes on.

In addition to the wide range of products, they also have very experience mechanics to take care of your bikes. Winson, the Managing Mechanic, is well-known in the cycling community as an established racer. With his background in racing and years of technical hands-on, he is more than capable to rectify any issue with your bike. To add on to his resume, Winson has also successfully completed several overseas mechanic courses, making him a very competent Technical Consultant.

On a side note, I understand that they are looking to hold regular rides for all cyclists to join. So if you stay nearby and are itchy for a ride, do check out their ride schedule.
