" Really stiffens up the whole bike. "

The Review
This booster really works. They are very light you won't feel the difference in weight after installation.
Maybe you might want to place some "protection" over them as the boosters can get scratched up quite badly.
When installed at the rear, cannot feel the difference.

Strengths
-The booster really works, reduced brake/fork flex under braking.
-Quite pleasing to the eye.
-Light.

Weaknesses
-They can get badly scratched, take good care of these.
-No difference felt when installed at the rear, i'm riding a M4 hardtail.

The Review
Had considered cheaper alternatives such as alloy ones from lizardskins but only the shimano carbon boosters met my cosmetic requirements. Had to source for additional washers to fit the boosters properly as the supplied ones did not come in the necessary dimensions. Nevertheless, this has been a necessary improvement, stiffening up the flexy rear of my NRS, giving the rear brake more positive feedback than previously. No longer in production given the present disc brake fad, but despite the premium over competing products, this little carbon trinket from Big S would still be an alluring buy.

Strengths
Lightweight, stiff carbon fibre construction structure that accomplishes the task it was designed to do.

Weaknesses
Fibre weaving not exactly the highest quality given the premium one needs to pay.

Supplied hardware not sufficient to mount M960 V brakes properly.

" light n STIFF "

Overall Rating
Reviewed on: 1st Mar 2002 from Singapore

The Review
Its a light n STIFF booster n it can really completely prevent the frame from being flex. Whereas, i had read the mtbr review that lots of riders had met this problem of the matt surface of the booster had been peel off by those gravel. N these are one of the weakness they had faced. But i guess it happened too. But i had a solution of avoiding this problem. Go to those stationery shop to buy a transparent laminating paper n spend some time at home slowly to cut out the shape of the booster n paste on it. I had tried n u cant spot the lamination. N this already solved.

Strengths
1. light
2. STIFF
3. Good looking

Weaknesses
Matt surface may peel off after sometimes when hit by gravel or solid particles.

I guess it is allright but if you don't want to spend so much, you can buy Lizard. It's cheaper at around SG46.00.

Weaknesses
The price. I paid SG65.00 without installation from shop.

" If you like the look of carbon stuff, well.... "

Overall Rating
Reviewed on: 3rd Jan 2002 from Singapore

The Review
Shimano could've done better with their design and R&D of this product. It does serve it's function of a brake booster well but design and stiffness could be improved.
Well, there aren't many high end brake boosters out there....

Strengths
Light
THe usual good looking pattern of carbon-weaved components...

Weaknesses
Big & Ugly. Big piece of carbon with huge SHIMANO print on it. Some might find it nice but I feel it's kinda cheesy. Not much of a lateral flex but flexes all over elsewhere.
Not cheap.
