The Crunch:
I consider this helmet to be a hybrid rather than a MTB specific one...so roadies also can use them, like I did.
Like the MET Stradivarius which is actually a Roadie helmet but also are quite popular with the MTB crowd, the Zethos can be used either ways.
The Zethos comes with a detachable visor and visor hole cover as a set, a feature seldom seen in other brands thus, a neat and organised feel and look.
The profile of the ribbings are somewhat angular and solid to the feel and the finishings a bit value added due to the usage of unusual paints and graphics on the laminate shell.
Mine is the polished Automotiive silver on the main body and a faux glossy white carbonlike design at the rear portion.
Another version, the crocodile trophy looks super extreme and unusual with a lizardlike skin graphic design. Comes in around another 5 more selections to choose from.
The zethos at a glance reminds me of the MET Strad II in some general ways...but not in detail.
Both have generous sweeping ventholes, whereas the Zethos lines are more blunted and shorter than the Strad II which are much longer and more pointed. 20 holes for the former against 17 for the latter....both weighting at 270grams.
The shape of the helmet in whole is like a blunted tear with the front portion a bit oval but not as sharp as the selev or Strad II.
Poseur quality is very high.
Coming from someone who owns a few Selev Aliens, the first thing I notice in using the Zethos was that it was breezy in feel even on standstills because of the way the vents were positoned as well as the generous sizes it had. Riding at high speed was a revealing experience.....the helmet really directs the wind to ventilate your noggins for a cool and almost sweatless ride at the top.
Sizing requires you to check-it out thoroughly as a bigger version may not look good on you but once you get the right size, the fit due to its superb locking micro-fit dial and locking strap adjusters make the helmet really cling comfortably and securely like a glove.
My brother gave it a try and was impressed. Too bad he had a longish thin face which did not suit well with the helmet shape....oval shaped like my face just nicely adopts.
Nevertheless....fit, comfort and features won him over.
If the shape fits your facial feature, get it....
it's a good deal and highly recommended.
In Look, at the front view, the Zethos has a semi oblong shaped base and a high rounded crown which was designed to capture wind movement at a max. Side views make the helmet look compact and aero while the rear and side rears have very large turbines exit like hole.
Maintenance after service is also assured by the ready abundance of spare parts and the crash=50% off warranty that it provides.
