" Its Better Than Sex "
Duration of product used:
More than 3 years
Bike Setup:
GT i-drive 6.0
XTR hydro levers/XT 4pod calipers
XT/Saint shifters
XTR FD/Saint RD/XT Cassette
Saint crankset/DX Pedals
Fox Van 32 RLC/ Fox Van R shox
Alex SupraD rims/
Hone front hub/Quando Qlite rear hubs
Similar Products Tried:
Cinelli Double Trouble
Strengths:
-i-Drive system reduces pedal bob(Fox RP23 can further reduce bob)
-Strictly offroad use
-Single pivot design(reduces pivot flexing)
-Care of bushings further lengthen pivot rigidity
-budget full-sus frame
-2001 design better than 2007
-Virtually no pedal bob during climbing
-Frame geometry allows up to 140mm fork(hence increase BB height; feels lyk DH bike)
-Its a SWEET ride at fraction of cost
-Worth keeping n upgrading
Weaknesses:
-hefty weight
The Crunch:
I Love GT Bikes. Hans Rey still uses it. Brian Lopes raced on it...Now with Kenda Tires...Heaven On Earth...My initial setup was 16kg. Feels like a DH bike. Its like having a Santa Cruz Nomad at real low price but hard to get 2001 model. Last saw at Tay Cycle. Race proven. This monster i race with got me 9th place at BT when everyone else was using lightweights. Salutes To GT!

" Budget Full Sus "
Duration of product used:
Less than 1 month
Bike Setup:
Gt I-Drive 6.0, Pyslo SL, Deore/XT drive, Avid SD3, Syncros Big Box.
Similar Products Tried:
none
Weaknesses:
Heavy, Rear Shock, Flexy seatstay, Lousy welds.
The Crunch:
This review is for the frame and rear shock only coz the rest of the parts I've got are not from a stock I-Drive 6.0.
The ride is great typical of an I-Drive, only that it's pretty heavy, heavier than 5.0 and above coz the way it is built is different from the rest of the I-Drive series GT has but I see this as an advantage too coz it makes this frame much stronger than the others.
The seatstays are so flexy that a brake booster is a must for this frame unless you are using discs.
The rear shock has 0 adjustability except for preload.
Sure, all that I've listed so far are bad points but look at it this way you are only paying $800+ for this bike, much less than what a good hardtail would cost and you can always upgrade the parts when you have cash.
The major selling point of this bike is it's I-Drive system and it's price. The frame is sweet so it's definitely worth buying, keeping and upgrading.
Highly recommend for anyone just starting out or with a tight budget and wants a full sus. So go out and get one now b4 it's all gone.

" Value for money "
Duration of product used:
3 months
Bike Setup:
Gt i-Drive6.0,RST Aerosa AET shocks, Textro Brakes, Acera 8speed shifters, XT Front d & Rear d, XT BB, Michelin Wildgripper XL S ( back), Michelin Wildgripper Front S ( front), Shimano spd M-515, Cateye Tomo XC. The rest are OEM.
Similar Products Tried:
Giant DS-1 & Trek (something), Peugeot hardtail with RST 381el
Strengths:
Sub $1000 Full suspension bike. i-Drive really works.
Weaknesses:
Kinda heavy, Some parts needs upgrading. Changed the Taiwan BB after 1 ride.
The Crunch:
For Budget concious riders seeking a FS bike. This is the ONE. For less than 1k, it's a steal. I got mine for $800. Upgrade to XT rd and rd for $80. Never tried the Suntour fork. Change Front shock to RST Aerosa AET immediately after buying.A very comfortable bike due to rear shock. Some says it bobs, but I can't feel it.I think it all depends on the rider's preference and suitability.Got it in Silver colour. Riding at BT has never been so comfortable.I've never regretted buying this bike and never will. Cheers
