" Stiff, light, strong, value for $$. "
Duration of product used:
3 months
Bike Setup:
little red bike.
Similar Products Tried:
Shimano deore LX.
Some stock stuff.
RF evolve 2004.
Strengths:
-Stiff, stomping on these cranks are like stomping on stone, just cannot feel any flex.
-Strong.
-Light, 860 grams, not light?
-Integrated BB, makes for easier installation.
-Bigger rings= More speed, but need more leg power.
-Works smoothly and quietly, very important for me.
-Looks very nice.
-Value for $$ at $270, if you prefer the 44t setup,it will be 30 bucks cheaper.
Weaknesses:
None
The Crunch:
Been using these cranks bought second hand for 3+months, very satisfied.
The pricing($270) is quoted from my fave LBS.

Bike Setup:
Rock shox, Selle Italia, Shimano and Michellin equipped 1997 GT LTS 2
&
2003 Giant NRS 3
Similar Products Tried:
Deore LX 1995, 1997, 2003
XTR M900
Strengths:
Light, stiff yet strong.

Predictable shifting.

Higher gearing ensures no over spinning.

Sleek finish which has held up well.
Weaknesses:
26T granny isn't for everybody.

Integrated, thrash one part and you probably have to buy a brand new set.

Cost premium over the 22/32/44 crankset.
The Crunch:
The biggest draw this crankset offers is the 48T ring which is a delight to use on long downhills on roads. However the 26T granny could be a bit high for those accustomed to the 22T, especially in wet, slippery, technical upslopes, not impossible to use, but adds to the challenge of not spinning out the rear wheel. Otherwise I have nothing but praises for this crankset so far. Crashed a few times but it's still like new. Just take note you will need either the M760, M761 or the 02 XTR front derailleurs as they (761 and 02 XTR, 760 works with its standard cage size) are built with larger derailleur cages to accomdate the 48T ring. I won't say it's a bad product, in fact it has excelled so far, but for local xc trails, the M760 will suffice, especially when you have to fork the premium for 761.

The Crunch:
It's incredibly rigid as soon as u try it, there's no flex of any sort, and after 6 months of bashing on it, as in really bashing, it still works the way it's supposed to. Great investment.

" Faster down the slope "
Duration of product used:
3 months
Bike Setup:
TREK 8500
Shimano XT complete set
Similar Products Tried:
DEORE
Strengths:
The strength is the 48T. It helps to go faster when riding down slope.
Weaknesses:
It is not recommand for x-country ride as it is harder to paddle. You need extra leg strength to paddle using the maximum gear. And due to this the paddle a afew mm longer then the normal crankset.
The Crunch:
As I am rding on the road more often it helps me to ride faster and it does have the rare 48T and it limited edition.
