" Pretty nifty but not the best. "

Would prefer Cateye Velo2
A friend of mine got the same thing, and experienced similar problem... basically in his case, water actually seeped into the battery compartment, and the whole thing killed itself. (talk about protective ciruits)

Strengths
Cheap and simple to use
Tons of built in functions

Weaknesses
Slow response... The computer repsonse pretty well to the buttons, but it takes quite a while to display the current speed. which is a maj weakness if you need to know yr instantenous speed at the blink of the eye.
Displays accuraccy of only 0.5km/h
Doesn't perform very well in rainy conditions... unlike the Velo2, this guy isn't water proof. the velo2 screws up after extensive usage under rainy conditions, once you dry up the contact pts, its ok, but for this guy, water can get in...
Screws itself after dropping it several times accidentally.

The quality and design of this bike computer speaks for itself. I have not changed it for nearly 2 years and will get it for my new incoming bike.
Hopefully can get the mounting and set up for new bike with same main unit.

Love it to bits!

Strengths

- Good battery lifespan
- Cadence! but available separately
- Wireless option available separately
- 2 wheelsize option

Weaknesses
- Options must be purchased separately
- Earlier version died during rain rides
- Cadence is wired and bit filmsy to setup

" Very nice design and good features "

Overall Rating
Reviewed on: 7th Aug 2004 from Singapore

The Review
Very nice and definitely highly recommended if you're looking for a nice display and good value. Get two small wire ties to keep the wires nicely twirled around the brake cable. Installation was quicker than I imagined only after ploughing thru the manual. Looked at the VDOs which I felt didn't offer good value while didn't want to go back to Cateye as they had some lemons in their range of late.

Strengths
Nice clear display. Easy removal by a simple twist. Easy installation, took less than 5 min. but took longer reading the manual (why Germans love diagrams in their manuals escapes me). Quality product.

Weaknesses
The manual takes time to decipher the diagrams. Could do with a backlight especially for nite rides. You gotta have faith in the rubber band mountings but they work well enough. Cadence feature requires additional accessory.

" Nice to look at, but where are the instructions "

Overall Rating
Reviewed on: 13th Oct 2003 from Singapore

The Review
If you have the patience to experiment with the computer, it's a good piece of equipment.
I've only used it a couple of times so I have to get used to it, but compared to how Cateye writes their manuals, this is a pain in the neck to figure out.

Strengths
Big screen, easy to read numbers. Lots of functions. I bought the cordless version of this computer.

Weaknesses
Top two buttons are too close together. No light.

The most annoying, frustrating instruction manual ever written. Yes, it's nice to have lots of features. No, it's not nice when the manual doesn't really show you how to use them.
