Sorry guys mtb here , I was cruising about 40 to 42 when a boy with 4 wheels suddenly came out to the oppsite traffic and I have to do a very very tight swerve to the left at that speed I was going , and the parents came swearing at me -.- I was like wtf ? Tons of idiots there , after you gain speed to like 40 for the stretch of striaght road , some idiots will suddenly cut into your lane and make you E brake wasting tires and momentum . Wtf  damn fed up .
"

flaunting your ability and arrogance much heh?

you were speeding, nearly crash into someone's kid and the parents came swearing at you. you blamed them for slowing you down, wasting your cheap tires thread and god speed momentum then probably gave them the WTF look and label them as idiots.

Ride with brains, not with balls.

normally when i ride in ECP, i will unclip 1 leg just in case, extra brakes. Speed shud be maximum at 20km/h unless at the back parts where there is no1 around(make sure u look and theres no1 around). At the crowded area, its best to watch where u are going and make sure u drop to 20km/h and below. Nv go so near the people riding for fun. Thats about it

LASTEST NEWS:

Called up that weasel, Poh, who crashed my bike. He had REFUSED to reply my text messages all week, and refused to pick up my calls this morning. When I called with my unlisted number - he hung up on me not once, but TWICE. I told him I would make a polie report, and he told me I could report and sue him, he doesn't care and won't pay a cent and hung up.

So I called a third time to ask for his NRIC number to show that I was serious about making a report.

And he started YELLING at me. He started INSISTING that I was speeding and NEVER let me speak just once, to tell him my riding mates saw him make the sudden right turn, or that my GPS data shows that were were clearly under 15km/h. And he talked about safe distance - of which there was none cos he wasn't in front of me but had CUT INTO MY LANE. And he mentioned that I should be grateful he wasn't injured and all that - but HE NEVER DID ONE APOLOGISE THAT MY BIKE WAS DAMAGED AND THAT AFTER ONE WEEK MY BACKBONE IS STILL PAINFUL FROM THE ACCIDENT.

I am very upset and having a bad sunday, because of this terrible spineless coward's brash and unfair attitude towards me.

Looks like no one really knows what you can do(apart from literally smacking him) or no one really does anything at all... I suppose you might want to get your repair/replacement costs quoted so you have something to actually make him pay for if you manage to intimidate him enough or something. Not sure if the cops will really do anything and if they will that's probably good.

On another note: go see a doctor(if you haven't) if your back is still giving bad pain. Otherwise if it's getting slightly better apply some more medication. My sit bones hurt for about 3 weeks after my crash at ecp so all I can say is get well soon! Go whack milk like hell.

Aren't we supposed ENJOY the sport?

5 meters? That's an eternity to do an emergency brake move. Sorry, I take back my earlier stand, you asked for it. Each time I ride at ECP, with no offense to other riders here - I treat every moving person (on any form of locomotion) to be a hazard to myself - even friends I might be riding with, because there might be other things that cause them to swerve out of control. Coupled with your speed of sub-15kph, I really am hard-pressed to understand how you crashed into the bloke - do you ride with fingers on the brakes at all? I'm a relatively slow rider because of this bad habit, but this habit also saves my skin. Same rule applies for me when I'm out on either my mtb or road bike - everyone's a friend, until there's a pileup or a crash. I don't want to give a chance especially to any one I know, to be blamed by me for causing me to crash.

sehsuan,

My poor estimation dude, it was actually less than 5 metres sorry!

I just measured out 5 metres and it's definitely further than the distance I remember between me and the point when he suddenly U-turned my lane. It actually more like 3 metres when he made the turn, and I was braking up till when I collided with him. Though in retrospect, I realise what could have made the outcome better was if I had clipped out of my SPDs - in shock I had failed to do so when I suddenly saw him turn square in the lane, which was very unexpected.

Nevertheless, I do appreciate the wisdom you dispense sehsuan, and indeed it is a lesson learnt for me.

Yup, I do ride with my fingers on the brakes at all times. This was indeed a lack of foresight on my part, in paying attention to that errant Ah Beng cyclist on the left. I should have called him, or maybe not even cycle past him albeit on the right. And yes, I'm making it instinct to clip out when I emergency brake. Went to practice emergency braking and unclipping after my interval training last night!

Cheers everyone! trying to move on after the frustration, work harder and ride safer and stronger.

Keep safe, wear a helmet, watch out for danger and make sure nobody who harms you gets away scot free..

Speaking of e-braking... Somebody teach me exactly how it's done please! I don't want to try anything too retarded and end up flying off the front of my bike.
