Actually always apply the rule of maintaining safety braking distance where ever u are. Always on alert where ever u cycle. Do not cycle more than what u can handle. 20km/h maybe seems slow but if u maintain a gap of less than 1m from front cyclist, even 20km/h can be hazardrous.

TO THE ORGANISERS OF 2010 OCBC CYCLE (40KM) I hope you are reading this thread, and you will not make us cycle in the Pathway (like 2009). If you are expecting us to cycle on the pathway, then please ensuire your marshalls strictly keep the non-participants off the track!

Hope you are recovering well from your crash. I do agree ECP is a cyclist friendly place to cycle at all. There are pedestrian who walk on the cyclist path, kids who jam break/U-turn suddenly, etc. But I still go there every saturday cos my gf dare not to cycle on the road. Probably we juz got to maintain a safety distance and keep a look out for all the danger. Lets hope everybody can make ECP a safer place to ride, blade and jog. :)

Got to be more realistic. Even during the Tour de France it's impossible to keep every spectator from straying into the route - that's how Armstrong crashed. Even in F1 there were incidents involving a man and animals straying into the track... yes it actually happened - both man and animal. The main thing is to be alert both during casual weekend rides and races. Quote: "Formerly posted by kelakwek: TO THE ORGANISERS OF 2010 OCBC CYCLE (40KM)

Thanks for the advice everyone. Really appreciate your concern and sympathy and empathy. I've been really frusrated - I'm aching, bruised and hurt, and I'm stressing over bicycle repairs and obtaining spare parts while this spineless person isn't even sorry or accepting responsibility, and is going away without a care. Ridiculous.
Just checked my GPS data log - turns out that I was going around 13km/h to max 18km/h, not 20km/h. And I was maintaining safe braking distance; there was nobody ahead of me and the GPS data shows that I slowed to a slower cruising speed in that vicinity. Then he U-TURNED just 5 metres in front of me - not much I can do.

there was once at ECP also, me and my 2 frens were heading towards bedok jetty at ~20kmh. we were approaching a group of youth in front when 1 of them suddenly swerved out into one of my fren's lane. tat guy was riding a rented bike, some leisure cyclist la. so my fren jammed his brakes, heng he was on his fire xc pros and managed to stop in time but it was at the expense of his tires(skidded) and he also knocked into the youth's bike by just abit. so he was quite anger and shouted at the youth "HOW DO YOU CYCLE MAN?!" the youth kena stunned and was dumbfounded, his fren had to apologised to my fren despite my fren knocking into the youth's bike. haha, damn funny la, i was behind laughing lor.
