Topic: Decade old giant halfway brake part

Hello, I have a decade old single speed giant halfway bike with some sentimental value. The rear brake spoilt, and I went around some repair shops to ask if they could repair it, and had no luck. The rear brake assembly where the brake wire should attach to has seized, and the hole it's in is rounded. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can mod it or use some other rear brake assembly to get working rear brakes. I did some reading online and someone suggested using a booster, but I'm not really sure.

I did take it back to the distributor but it's too old for the parts, so I was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions.

Also, is it possible to mod it to have gears? The later year models have gears. I know it's probably impractical, but it holds some sentimental value for me.

Thank you for any suggestions!

It's a great piece of information, when I search for it, I don't know how to use it
