Very nice! Have seen very few people going over there to cycle...or at least they have not posted on here about it.

I've been across there a few times on my bike - I generally get an evening ferry on a Friday to Bintan resorts and stay at Nirwana Beach club, then I cycle across the north of the island and stay at Shady Shack on Trikora beach - then head to Tanjung Pinang on a Sunday morning and either get the 18:30 ferry back to SG or stay overnight and get the 10:30 on a monday and head in to work after lunch.

I am planning on doing this again towards the end of June holidays with the kids - we were supposed to be going to Europe but can't take the time off work.

Either is fine the roads are OK on bintan a few pot holes here and there but generally accesible for a road bike - I've been over on both. MTB is better for exploring though - there are some off road tracks around Gunung Bintan that are quite good fun to get lost in. Last time it got dark on me and couldn't find my way out so just strung the hammock between a couple of trees, got the stove out and waited till the next morning.
A little bit spooky being stuck in the jungle at night on your own with only a dead iPhone for company, it is pitch black none of that orange light pollution that you get in SG - luckily no Pontianak got me.

Brave soul.. I wouldn't dare being alone there. But with no light pollution the night sky must be damn nice to see
