Topic: New Member, Looking to Start!

Posted on: 23rd Mar 2015 10:43 PM    Quote and Reply

Hi!
Am considering to go into biking because a recurring heel pain is stopping me from my regular runs.

Tried mountain biking but not into trail riding so am thinking of going into road biking.

I stay around Bkt Timah area and am looking for cycling buddies to start and chat up with.

Also if anyone has any recommendations for bikes (used or new) around S$1,500 budget to start and if such a bike can last or more upgrades expected in the short run?

Thanks in advance!

Personally i prefer either a  polygon (with the extra cash to buy helmet, jersey, cage, lights..etc) or merida sculptra 400 , cause its around 13XX only . comes with full 105 drive chains (except for crank) and its 11 speed

Am also a newbie but things to consider when actually buying your own bike is

#1 Cycling strictly PCN/roads or want dirt/off road option as well

#2 Have an eye pf nearby LBS i.e local bike shops near your neighbourhood in case you need help fixing, upgrading, etc

#3 If cycling after dark bike lights a must

#4 Let us know which estate you are at - perhaps others here could share great beginner/immediate routes to try out ya
