Hi sorry to create another thread to ask for opinions.
Now I have given up on Hachiko and have shot listed the below 3 models.
please have your say for the bikes and recommend what should be my 1st ever bike purchase.
1) vert v8 ($398)
2) tern link c7 ($550)
3) Dahon route ($475)

prices are estimates.

You won't go wrong with Dahon or Tern. Support is good and quality is there.

Personally I'd recommend trigger type (levers activated by index finger) gear shifters, vs barrel type (built into the hand grip). Much easier to use.

Important is to test ride thoroughly. Some foldies are more nimble (or twitchy) than others. Depends on what you are comfortable with.

Would you consider a 2nd hand Dahon Route 2014? Purchased from MBS a few months back.

I can get my friend to contact you - i think he got 1 silver and 1 red version. Both in great condition, if not perfect.

I think you go for item 2 or 3 better. So far, most got them commented very reliable. The other thing is also when you think of letting go say in a few months time, at least can get some investment back. V8 resale not so good compared to the other 2. Go MBS and test ride, this LBS is very good in service even though you may not buy, they still serve you well, thumb up for MBS.

2 and 3 is the best. ( but u have to decide based on your usage frequency)

but u need to decide:

item 3 has 6 speeds only. grip twist shifters.

item 2 has 7 speeds. grip twist shifters.

Things to note:

1. additional $75 for an extra gear. (do u use it often?)
2. do u plan to upgrade gear speed only in future? because both bikes cannot be upgraded

Its also good to take a look at both 2 & 3 bikes as you might have some preferance for grip shifters cosmetics
