Hi Guy, Looking to buy my first foldie. Have tried the above bicycle in LBS. All 3 bike feel soild but in term of speed, the Java win because it 16 speed. My question now is, Java cost $630. Would it be better to buy Tern? or Should I buy Vert and do upgrade? Any advise will be good as I'm a newbie. Thanks

Before you decide, you should try out a brompton, lambo, bike Friday, etc first. You have not tried enough foldable bikes to make a decision.

what is your budget?
=)
why don't you compare price / spec / parts, etc and let the others see? and test ride ALL of them. hoo!
join a group cycle and ask the fellow riders to let you ride their bike to test.

you cannot judge a bike speed potential by how many gear selections it has.

ive tried tern p9, black friday, lambo, java n vert v8. of which, i must say lambo n bf gives the best rides...streaming down to the remaining 3, i must say that java is totally out of my thoughts as i find it flimpsy. as for tern, im disappointed by its handling vs its price. as for vert, i must say it wins most of my concerns. from pricing to handling and looks. it definately won my heart...
would suggest you try as many foldies as possible and give the bike a good ride before deciding and not just do a few slow rounds and call it a day.
different people different likes, for me, vert is more than enough, for some, its just trash...

Hi Desmond8,
As Lambo and BF is out of my budget thus did not give it a try. Tried the Tern but don't like the feel.
In the end got the Vert V8.
Very happy with my ride now. Solid and value for money.
Will be upgrading the wheel for a smoother and faster ride experiences.

Sorry but am a noob and since you guys are considering foldable bikes, just curious if Dahon Jifo fits the bill? seems lightweight for a foldable.
Any idea how much it cost?
