Topic: When to do Bike Servicing?

Posted on: 26th Nov 2016 12:27 PM    Quote and Reply

Hi all, kinda noob but still hope regulars/experts here can help to answer my questionI have left road bike scene for a couple of years. The last time i rode my road bike was 2 years ago, kept hanging in my storeroom.

Recently bought out for a short ride and the condition still excellent.

However, i do have a concern whether to bring it to a LBS for full servicing. Do I need it? And if yes, do i need to even go for wheel bearing / tuning service?

Thanks!

Hi Bro.. It depends on the condition of the bike. Usually for such cases, I will recommend customer to just do a tune-up clean-up for my side. Basically, degreasing of your drivetrain, lubing of cables (if not rusty) and polishing. Checking that everything is good to go and safe to ride. If anything that needs replacement especially cables (if its already rusting), I will inform the customer beforehand. Hope it helps.
