Topic: Is this legal in Singapore?

Hi all.

I found Benson Cycle Trading (USA) selling bikes for low prices and free shipping? Too good to be true?
I'm guessing I'll just need to pay lots of import TAX when the bike comes.
Anyone see a problem?

thanks!

It's weird. Can find their SG and Indo address, but no US address.
Benson Cycle Trading [SG] Blk 72 Lor 5 Toa Payoh #01-574, SG   Singapore 600252.
Benson Cycle Trading [ID] 1rd A8-10 Boulevard Kelapa Gading, Jakarta Utara   DKI Jakarta, ID 14240

from http://www.benson-trading.com/info.php?contact

A check on whois shows their domain name holder is hidden by privacy protect. This practice is usually used by small companies or individuals so as not to reveal thair actual identity. Bigger, more established companies usually come out in the open.

IMHO it's probably a local/Indo partnership/individual owner who wants to set up an online business selling bikes. And for image purposes, better for them to say that they are US rather than SG. A US registered company is just a record, a paper in a drawer. In the past, I've worked with a company that registered a company in US.

Anyway, I work in Toa Payoh, very easy to pop by and see whats what.

Curious, after reading this, why would you register a company in the US? Wouldn't you have to pay taxes then? (US TAXES) on your biz?

I found the Benson Cycle Trading shop also.
However, I don't think they have the same stock or prices I find online.  The bikes online seem to ship direct from Hong Kong China.

I also didn't see  any phone number online.  I'll rather call than go so far away.
Anyone have a phone number to Benson Cycle?

EDIT:  I found the number: 62553864
I'll call later and see what they have and "what's up".

My friend called up the shop in TPY and was told that they do not have an online shop! So the website is a scam. Be warned!

Has anybody confirmed that Benson Cycle Trading is Legit or a Scam? They seem to have been up and operating for some time now.
