The value-for-money mountain componentry range shares trickle down technologies from its higher end siblings
Shimano is definitely upping its game by introducing trickle down technologies like the Shadow RD+ and Ice Techologies to its updated enthusiast level mountain componentry, the Deore M610.
RD-M615 with Shadow RD+

Old (M590 Rear Derailleur, rear) versus New (M610 Rear Derailleur, front)
Chain Stabilization trickles down to Deore with Shadow RD+ technology. The addition of the “+ (Plus)” sign indicates the presence of Shimano’s proprietary chain stabilization system. The Rear Derailleur Stabilization system reduces chain slap and makes the drivetrain more efficient. The system is engaged by flipping the switch to the “On” position. With this, the derailleur cage immediately stiffens up and holds the chain firmly in place. Now a feature that was previously only found on the top end groupsets (XTR & XT) just a year ago can be bought at a value price.
Ice-Technologies Compatibility
Deore M610 carries forward with an Ice-Technologies compatible caliper. While it does not come stock, the sandwich structure pads can be replaced aftermarket for the best braking performance.
Using the affordably priced clad rotor SM-RT68 (laminated with steel and aluminum) will further increase the performance of this group.
With some simple disassembly, the pads can be easily changed from standard pads (left) to Ice-Technologies pads (right)
Riders will be able to pick and choose the most comfortable ratio to suit their specific riding needs.
I-Spec option for Deore

I-spec refers to the integrated mounting system of Shifter and Brake lever. Introduced for the first time for Deore, it provides a clean appearance and more ‘real estate space’ for the handle bar area. Do check for compatibility with older models as Shimano recently modified the I-spec shape.
Maybe 4 pot XT / XTR calipers with ice-tech fins in the near future?
